entry level REVIT (AutoCAD) Draftsman Technician

Shurm Homes seeks an entry level REVIT (AutoCAD) Draftsman Technician that will assist the REVIT Draftsman in all aspects of master home plan design as well as assisting homeowners in designing their dream home to their needs and lifestyle.


Assist REVIT Draftsman in plan design and modifications using REVIT. Training using REVIT software will be provided. Knowledge of local construction standards a plus.

Administrative and clerical support to the REVIT Draftsman including assembly of permit packages for localities, addressing comments from localities, lot specific master plan modifications, new master plan drafting, plan take-offs, support accounting with PO, VPO, plan take-offs, etc.

Tasks include: Drafting, Permit packages, Start packages to Project Managers, Entering data into Mark Systems (IHMS) and maintaining a database, Support Purchasing with Home Plan Take-Offs, support accounting with PO/VPO, etc. Cross-training in every department is part of the job!

Knowledge of Microsoft Office a must and Mark Systems (IHMS) Software a PLUS!

Assist REVIT Draftsman in the day-to-day communications with customers, vendors and subcontractors.

Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to make trips to localities for pick up and drop off.

Provide support and cross training for all other departments required.

Customer service oriented- must be patient, professional and courteous.

Strong verbal and written skills.

Self-Starter with Great organizational skills and time management skills.

Work nights/weekends as needed to complete work load or to meet deadlines.

Assist with tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the REVIT draftsman.

Some knowledge of current design trends in Richmond and nationally a plus.

Fast learner and willingness to learn and able to multi-task and establish priorities.

Education Experience:

Bachelor's degree (Computer Aided Drafting – CAD or Interior Design) and some experience in relevant field preferred.

Warranty Manager/Technician/Quality Controller

Warranty Manager/Technician/Quality Controller for the Warranty Department: The right candidate will have ultimate responsibility for all warranty related activities with support from project managers, which includes 3-month warranties, 1-year warranties, warranty budgets, warranty tracking through Mark Systems/IHMS, subcontractor rating, implementation of best construction practices to minimize warranty requests and improve quality of construction, and direct contact with homeowners and subcontractors after closing. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Represent Shurm Homes providing exceptional customer service and timely warranty repairs.
• Take proactive actions with all customers during 3-month and 1-year warranty requests.
• Respond to all warranty requests the same day.
• Detailed records of each warranty meeting/call and corrective action taken entered in Mark System/IHMS.
• Review performance and construction standards of all subcontractors and hold monthly meetings implementing 
best construction practices based on warranty data.
• Ability to patch drywall, paint, repair squeaks, carpentry, flooring and cabinet installations, etc.
• Hands on and has the ability to fix it today!
• Support all employees especially project managers as needed depending on the need to balance work load.
• Present a clean appearance and professional demeanor at all times.

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma and 3-5 years trade experience minimum.
• Proven ability to lead and a self-starter with great organizational skills.
• Able to prioritize tasks and available nights/weekends to take calls and/or respond to warranty requests.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve warranty requests.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, and clean driving record.
• IHMS/Mark Systems experience a plus.
• 4-year college degree a plus.

Assistant Project Manager/Superintendent

Shurm Homes seeks an Assistant Project Manager/Superintendent/Builder for the Construction Department. The right candidate will train directly with the project manager for 6-9 months while building multiple homes from clearing to closing, helping manage all aspects of the job site relating to home construction while maximizing quality and profit and communicating directly with customers and subcontractors using Mark Systems/IHMS.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works under the supervision of the Project Manager to build multiple homes.

  • Helps Project Manager manage all aspects of the job site including cleanliness and quality.

  • Interfacing with public agencies in obtaining all necessary inspections.

  • Oversee field operations with Project Manager, production times, and insure quality control so all homes meet the Shurm Homes standard and are ready for homeowner orientations/occupancy.

  • Schedule subcontractors on-site to meet provided schedules completing homes in time for closing date/occupancy ensuring all homes are built to plans/specs and contractual obligations are satisfied.

  • Ensure that the subcontractors and job site is meeting all safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations.

  • Know applicable building codes to meet construction standards.

  • Develop and review performance of all subcontractors.

  • Oversee data entry in IHMS/Mark Systems and complete checklists/reports as it relates to home construction.

  • Hold subcontractors responsible for daily clean-up.

  • Conduct inspections after each trade is complete to authorize payments.

  • Complete homeowner walk-through, punch-lists, meet closing dates, and obtain C.O from localities.

  • Customer service oriented- must be patient, professional, and courteous.

  • Self-starter with great organizational skills and time management skills.

  • Work Nights/Weekends as needed to be available for homeowner emails/calls.

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

Four-year college or university degree; or seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have a valid vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and be willing to travel.

IHMS/Mark Systems experience a plus.
